Editorial policy
Every guide on DeskSized follows the same rules. They are published here so you can hold the site to them.
Measurement first
Most bad desk purchases are measurement problems, not product problems. So every guide starts from the physical numbers: desk width, depth and thickness, clamp ranges, footprints, cable lengths, weights and compatibility. A product that fails a guide's fit checks does not make the picks, however well it reviews elsewhere.
Research-based — not hands-on tested
Plainly: unless a guide says a product was bought and tested, its picks are research-based. That means manufacturer specifications and manuals, retailer listings, and patterns across verified owner feedback, weighed against the guide's own criteria. That basis is stated at the top of every guide, and no page claims hands-on experience that did not happen.
How picks are chosen
- A pick must pass the criteria in its own guide — the same checks the guide teaches you to run.
- Every specification printed next to a pick was verified against a manufacturer or retailer listing. Where a spec could not be verified, it is not claimed.
- Products whose listings could not be verified were left out entirely, even when they looked like a good fit on paper.
- Guides say what to skip, not just what to buy: every pick carries a "skip if" line, and several guides will tell you the honest answer is a tape measure, a smaller keyboard, or nothing at all.
No published prices
Prices change too often for a printed price to stay honest, so prices are never copied into these pages by hand. Buttons say "Check price on Amazon" and take you to the current price at the retailer instead.
Corrections and updates
Guides are reviewed and updated when models, specifications or availability change. If you spot an error — a wrong dimension, a changed listing, a discontinued model — tell me via the About page. Corrections are made on the page itself, and a fix never quietly rewrites what a guide previously recommended without the change being visible in the text.
Independence
No brand pays for placement, ranking or coverage on this site, and commissions do not decide rankings — fit for a small desk does. The site earns money when readers buy through its affiliate links, at no extra cost to them; how that works is explained in full on the affiliate disclosure page.
